YouTube Science Videos to Watch Right Now (In 20 minutes or less) Vol. 3 SPICY FOOD 

This week I'm sharing 3 interesting YouTube Science videos about Spicy Food that you can watch in 20 minutes or less. This blog series is meant to provide science enthusiasts with a variety of science YouTube videos that will expand your knowledge and not make you late for work!

So why learn about the science of spicy foods? Well as a spicy food newbie, I have noticed my tolerance for spicy foods has increased over the last few months. This got me thinking, what is the science behind spicy foods? Here are three interesting YouTube science videos about spicy foods.

#1 The Science of Spiciness - Ted-ED 

Ted-Ed instructor Rose Eveleth explains the different compounds that provide the heat in spicy foods and hypothesizes why humans might like foods that cause us pain.  For the brave ones out there, Ghost Pepper Hot Sauce can challenge even the most experienced hot sauce connoisseur.

NPR's Science Friday researches the heat causing compound Capsaicin that gives peppers their heat and its different effects on people.

SciShow takes a look at some theories behind why people have different heat tolerances for spicy foods.
